Frequently Asked Questions

Last updated: April 23, 2026

Answers to the questions we get most often, pricing, timelines, technology, contracts, and how to start a cloud, AI, or modernization project with Mainix.

How much does an engagement with Mainix cost?

We publish fixed prices for all of our services on the Pricing page. Packages start at $2,500 for infrastructure work and go up depending on scope. For ongoing development we offer weekly sprints. You can review all options on the pricing page and book a free 30-minute call if you want to talk through which service fits your situation.

How long does a typical project run?

One-time packages like Infrastructure as Code Setup, Cloud Infrastructure Setup, AI Integration, or Backend Architecture usually take one to four weeks depending on scope and complexity. A small MVP or first usable product version usually takes three to six weeks. Larger MVPs, complex integrations, or products with more features may require a custom timeline and budget. Ongoing work runs in weekly sprints. We define the scope, timeline, and expected outcome before any work begins.

Do you work with startups or only enterprise clients?

Both. The common thread is companies that need reliable engineering work: founders building their first product, scale-ups that need a stronger technical foundation, and businesses that need AI or cloud infrastructure done properly. Engagement size scales with the work.

What technologies does Mainix use?

For cloud infrastructure: AWS, Azure, Terraform, AWS CDK, Azure Bicep, Pulumi, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, Datadog, Grafana, Cloudflare. For AI integration: OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, AWS Bedrock, LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Pinecone, pgvector. For backend and systems: TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, Go, Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka. We choose based on what fits the workload, not what is trending.

Do you offer fixed-price or time-and-materials contracts?

Most of our services are fixed-price with a clearly defined scope and deliverable. For ongoing development work we offer weekly sprints with a fixed weekly rate. You can see all pricing on the Pricing page. If your project has a custom scope, contact us and we will put together a clear proposal.

How do you handle intellectual property and confidentiality?

We can sign an NDA before discussing project details. All intellectual property, including source code, documentation, and project assets, is transferred to you upon delivery. This is standard across every engagement.

Can you work alongside our internal team or existing partners?

Yes. We regularly work alongside internal engineering teams, take ownership of a specific part of a codebase, or collaborate with other vendors. We follow your existing processes, code standards, and tooling.

Do you provide support after launch?

Yes. Post-launch support is available through our Focused Development Sprint service, which gives you a dedicated weekly block of engineering work for improvements, fixes, and continued development after the initial delivery.

Where is Mainix based and do you work remotely?

Mainix is headquartered in Bellevue, Washington. Our engineering team works remotely and we work with clients across US, European, and other time zones.

How do I start a project with Mainix?

Book a free 30-minute strategy call through the Book a Call page, or send a message through the contact form. We respond within one business day. After the call we will recommend the right service, confirm the scope, and send a proposal.

What domains do you work with?

We have shipped systems across SaaS, fintech, logistics, healthcare, retail, and internal tooling. Our focus is on cloud infrastructure, backend systems, and AI integration. These areas translate well across industries. The Domains page has more detail on specific verticals.

Can you add AI features to an existing product?

Yes. Our AI Integration service is specifically designed for this. We connect AI workflows, RAG systems, and agents to your existing backend, data, and APIs. We work with OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, AWS Bedrock, LangChain, and LangGraph, focusing on practical AI that works reliably in production, not demos.

What is included in the AI Integration service?

The service includes AI workflow design, model integration (OpenAI, Claude, or AWS Bedrock), LangChain or LangGraph implementation, RAG and knowledge-base setup, backend and data flow integration, safety and fallback handling, and cost and latency optimization. See the AI Integration service page for the full details.

What is a Proof of Concept and when do I need one?

A Proof of Concept is a focused technical experiment that validates whether a technical approach, AI workflow, integration, or product idea is feasible before you invest in a full build. It is useful when technical feasibility is unclear, the approach is new, or you want to reduce risk before committing to a larger project.

Do you build full products or only infrastructure and AI?

We do both. Our Proof of Concept, MVP Development, and End-to-End Product Engineering services cover the full product path from idea to production. Our infrastructure and AI services are for teams that already have a product and need a specific technical improvement.
